Freshers Crew 2011

Christ Church Student Union are looking to recruit new students to volunteer to become part of the freshers crew.


Being part of the crew, students will help out welcoming the new first years in September 2011.Taking part in various tasks consists of; helping students when arriving at their accommodation sites and picking up groups of freshers and taking them to evening activies designed.

First year Primary Education students begin their placements

First year students at Christ Church University studying Primary Education, have began their 1 month placement at a primary school. Probably the most looked forward to and exciting part of their degree has arrived. Students have been scattered all around Canterbury for placements, while others have returned back home for their placements.

Canterbury town centre is filled with retail and food outlets offering great price deals for everyone.

Students who make up a large part of Canterbury’s population seem to be the ones benefiting and making the most from such deals always looking for new vouchers and ways to save money.

With most of the year done, students are looking for ways to save as much money as they can, whether it be on food, clothes or day to day essentials.

Exams are soon approaching and for students revision seems to be the new going out. With the year coming to an end, students seem to be ditching the party spirit and attempting to focus on studying to complete the year successfully. So how are students keeping up with revision?

Extended opening hours for Augustine House

In the lead up to examinations, Augustine House will now be opened for longer hours from Tuesday 26th April to Friday 3rd June 2011, available for all students.

Lecturers go on strike over pension pay

On Tuesday morning staff from Canterbury Christ Church University spoke out in protest to the changes made to the pension scheme.

The strikers' were members of the University College Union, striking against serious proposed changes to lecturers' pensions and retirement age, affecting present and past employees.
